| The founder of Salsa
"Amor de Baile" International - Michael W Garvey discovered
his love for Salsa in the 1980's, when perhaps there were only a few
teachers openly giving lessons. The 1990's brought an attitude of
ballroom characteristics. The early 2000's signalled a dance fusion
of cabaret style show casing the jazz - street dance implementation.
As the world by way of travel has opened-up, so too has the beauty
of Salsa merged by its diversity of the traditional and contemporary
keeping the music and dance both alive and progressive, to where all
age groups are dancing and meeting together.
"Now everyone has their unique style, but dance is dance,
its fun, its expressive, its communicative and its healthy. Roll
the Afro-traditions into the modern world Salsa scene and you have
a dynamic explosion of dance.
I would like all participants of all levels (albeit an absolute
beginner through to highly developed dancer), ages, nationalities
to experience the love for Salsa music and dance; to move forward
gently yet with confidence into a networking community where people
dance, socialise, meet new friends and even possibly Salsa - dating
for those who want to".
